THURSDAY, JULY 12, 2001 ANTIDEPRESSANTS FOR HEADACHES? TEENAGE HEADACHES? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!

Oh yeah?

CBS Healthwatch has posted an article on this subject.

"According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), 50-75% of teenagers have at least one headache a month [hmm, juicy market for selling drugs]...But in cases where [the usual drugs don't work for frequent and severe headaches] pediatricians and headache specialists now are using antidepressants..."

Example. Dr. Marcy Hartle, a pediatrician with an office in Rochester, New York, states, "...certain classes of antidepressants can help children with the stress that may cause the headaches [which are resistant to less powerful drugs]."

Zoloft seems to be a popular favorite for teen headaches. Just great. Why not try Thorazine? It's a hands-down winner. Go into a complete daze for a few weeks and then try to remember your name.

This is how it starts. "We only give Zoloft for the unsolvable cases of headache." That's phase one. In phase two docs are writing scripts for Zoloft when the kid has any bad headache. In phase three, docs hand out the Z for worries about pimples.

I've got a great idea. Just load up the city water supply with Prozac, Jack Daniels, Thorazine, Haldol, digitalis, ibuprofen, old unsold stocks of Dexatrim and interferon, tons of aspartame and fluorides from fertilizer-industry wastes. That'll solve the WHOLE problem.

By the way, in case you haven't heard, studies are showing that all sorts of drugs which patients urinate out are being found in rivers.

Love to the folks, and I'll see you at Christmas. Filtered/pure water, please. And I don't take many showers anymore. So be prepared.
