For Carrie, Stephen and Amber
And the rest of Earth's Children,
That they may dissolve the conceptual pathogens
That poison their lives and their institutions.
I would think the unthinkable and speak the unspeakable,
Not because I am such a brave or clever fellow,
But because there can be no human progress
Without stepping beyond one's cultural norms and imperatives. -- EEA
As we approach the dawn of a new millennium, humanity is experiencing unparalleled development and rapidity of change. Communication and monetary transactions are now globally instantaneous. Global human intercourse is now beginning to dissolve national borders and the barriers of race and culture. We are on the threshold of moving out into space and are well on our way to being able to engineer our own form and function. We are on the threshold of becoming a truly intelligent life form.
However, such rapid change is generating potentially lethal reactance within our controlling institutions, and a growing disparity between the masses, on one side, largely controlled and manipulated by authoritarian social systems, and those increasingly oriented to factual reality, following objective indices and natural systems. The latter category of individuals have made possible the wonders of our sciences and technology, while the former, and larger segments of populations, maintain ancient premises and beliefs, trapped, controlled and manipulated by human institutions that have remained essentially stagnant throughout human history. These institutions maintain belief in a magic, non-rational and arbitrary universe, where energy and control is imposed from somewhere beyond nature, and where the social imperative is to impose Authoritarian control upon populations.
The struggle that will determine the fate of humanity is between these two camps, those orientation to delusion and belief as opposed to those orientation to factual reality, the real nature of existence and natural law. Without populations becoming largely oriented to reality, humanity will be unable to make rational choices or press for fundamental corrections necessary to limiting population growth and maintaining a viable Earth habitat.
In this book, among other things, you will find a preview of the most important work of discovery in human history, although there is a real danger that this knowledge may never become utilized. This is the work of an American engineer that, for the first time, displays the fundamental architecture of existence, the actual functions and mechanisms of the primary motion, the intense patterns of which provides structure for the three families of primary particles. It is the discovery of the nature of matter; what matter is, how it develops and how it works. This represents the real answer to Einstein's misconceived "Unified Field Theory".
This new work is by an engineer, now retired from General Electric Company, R. Stewart Hall. In the process of discovery, he has developed a unified, universal, alternative system for addressing particle physics. This system corrects the deficiencies and conceptual errors in the existing, compounded system of classical quantum physics.
His system displays existence as being a true unity, the fundamental mechanism of existence being the basis of all matter and all phenomena. This new methodology, using a modified system of LaPlace mathematics, allows the researcher to side-step the limitations of current empirical methods in this area, and the difficulties inherent in the existing patched together system. It allows the worker to check (validate) concepts and determinations against the compiled body of physics data and provides the most definitive portrayal of fundamental existence yet achieved, displaying the geometric necessities and functions of the primary particles.
This work completes the discovery of fundamental physics principles and opens the door of possibility for humanity's next great leap forward, the shedding of cultural delusion, ignorance and superstition, to become a truly intelligent life form.
This new discovery discloses the mechanisms that make the Cosmos truly a unity, in terms of structure and fundamental activity, and provides a simpler, more direct means of approach. This new approach is tied to the actual internal activities and functions of the primary particles, displaying fundamental existence on its own terms, as it cuts away the groundless theory and absurdity of contemporary theoretical physics and cosmology.
A physicist oriented to this system will be able to address the entire spectrum of physics phenomena using a single fundamental reference unit common to all matter, without the numerous unit-shifts and corrective constants required by the methodologies of the present system.
All aspects of physics; mass, charge, gravity, force, energy, thermodynamics, etc., can be addressed by working with a referent unit common to all matter. The universe becomes understandable in the absence of myth and magic. Hall's discoveries have implications that undercut the very foundations of most human thought, upon which humanity continues to operate and which provides the conceptual foundations and misdirection of our institutions. It displays the very roots of social dysfunction, as well as the parameters of reality.
This new work is not a theory. It is validated against our compiled physics data that has made possible our great advances in science and technology. It is a complete, validated system of approach that reflects the very foundations of factual knowledge. Every algorithm is checked against the experimental data of physics, as compiled on the Nuclide Chart. In this system, mathematics is truly tied to the scale and mechanisms of fundamental existence and displays that existence as it really is, on its terms, not in terms of human preconceptions.
This startling new view of the Cosmos is far different from that portrayed by theoretical science and cosmology. It is free from the hypothetical imaginings and baseless theory, resulting from a failure to validate and/or crafted to accommodate the primitive beliefs of humanity. This window to the true nature of the Cosmos lays bare the delusions and unnecessary dysfunction of human cultures, which brings us to the second fundamental difference that sets this book apart from all others.
This book will step beyond culture to look at the human condition as it is, in the absence of cultural preconceptions and bias, the delusional cognizance carried and instilled by all human cultures. For the first time, the nature of life and human problems are addressed from the standpoint of a general understanding the nature of existence.
The portrayal of humanity and human problems from this perspective moves the reader beyond opinion and the pronouncements of special interest groups, government, religion and other cultural institutions, providing an objective basis for understanding the common pathogens of human cultures.
The human condition displayed in the absence of cultural dogma becomes understandable and provides the potential to dissolve the cultural delusions that hold humanity in a condition of endless conflict, the inevitable results of high levels of ignorance and superstition within populations. These are insights having the potential to dissolve cultural delusions, reduce ethnic conflict and stimulate humanity's next great advance.
The human condition is the central focus of this work. We will examine the disparity between individuals and groups, in terms of their respective abilities to make reality-based corrections, why some individuals can routinely make corrections and control their own productive lives while others, individuals, groups, organizations, states and cultures cannot, as they endlessly propagate and broadcast the conceptual seeds of their own dysfunction, generation after generation.
In short, this book contains the essentials that genus Homo will be required to recognize, accept and build upon, if the destruction of our Earth habitat, and the degeneration of our species is to be averted. This, however, is not to imply that we have all the answers, nor that we will not have to make modifications and adjustments as new and increasingly accurate knowledge becomes available. We do, however, now have a methodology and a firm foundation to build upon.
You may find parts of this book unpleasant to read, not because of the language or the complexity of concepts. The words and concepts are easily understood. The reason is that you, as we all, are a product of our respective cultures. You have been carefully taught to believe, defer to Authority, maintain and perpetuate your culture's delusions, beliefs, premises and institutions, right or wrong. You have been carefully indoctrinated to maintain the controlling institutions of your culture in their present forms, primarily for the benefit of those institutions, and usually in opposition to the enhancement and positive evolution of human function.
In short, you have been made to believe, embracing the underlying premises and agendas of your institutions as your own. Having done so, you will have an internal drive to defend these premises and to reject any information that would threaten these beliefs.
The controlling institutions of our cultures, in their traditional forms, are not problem-solving entities. These institutions, through their functionaries, great and small, use problems and conflict as a means to growth and the gaining of power, further entrenching themselves as they increasingly generate and compound problems. They build their own supportive electorate, rewarding their supporters, as they increasingly taking over the life of the individual.
In repeating destructive cycles, our history depicts controlling institutions gaining in power and domain until they crumble from their own corruption and dysfunction, or are overthrown, only to have the same problematic systems develop anew. These systems are fundamentally dysfunctional because they operate on premises that do not reflect factual reality. They operate in ignorance of, and often in opposition to, the natural drives and systems of the Cosmos, denying the real nature of problems and the nature of the human animal. They operate on preconceived and primitive beliefs instead of moving to understand, use and supplement factual reality, the factual and inviolable functions of nature.
Present human social control systems are diametrically opposed to natural control systems. They are based on the authoritarian principle, the "God" model of existence, imposing control upon the individual and private organizations, rather than allowing and nurturing effective internal controls, working with natural systems, energies and processes within populations. Present controlling systems are unilaterally oriented to their own processes and structures, not to the best interests of the individual, the species or the carrying capacity of planet Earth.
These constitute a class of problems that do not emerge until the advent of intelligent life and the institutionalization of delusion, with its resultant damaged perception, conception and distorted reasoning.
Regardless of the form of controlling institution, religious, governmental, educational, etc., they will grow and further entrench themselves to the limits allowed, becoming decreasingly effective in the process. Some forms of organization can grow faster than others, but the principle of growth and development is universal, not just in terms of human systems that gain control over a people, but in every aspect of existence, down to the smallest activity centers of the primary particles. Growth of any system is natural, but the correction of human systems require predominately rational populations. Human populations have some catching up to do, but the knowledge necessary to dissolve man's cultural delusions is now available.
THE ORIGIN OF SOCIAL DYSFUNCTION addresses the most difficult and carefully avoided subject areas confronting humanity. However, these are subjects that humanity is increasingly compelled to face, simply because present systems result in problems that threaten every society and can no longer be ignored. Cultural delusion constitutes the most serious threat to humanity and life on this planet.
The development of intelligent life introduces a factor not shared by lower life forms, the instituting of falsehoods. Where a lower life form misinterprets its environment, such as a fly mistaking a praying mantis for a twig, the fly gets eaten. The effect is immediate and the fly has no institution to carry and perpetuate the misconception.
Human life, on the other hand, being able to conceptualize and reason, inevitably creates its early social systems based largely on delusion. Early Homo sapiens, as an emerging intelligent life form, came to have far more questions than for which it had valid answers. The result is that human cultures all carry high levels of delusion where human imagination has compensated for an absence of factual knowledge. The falsehoods become institutionalized within cultures and are carried forth by the societies, down through the ages, cultural pathogens, generating a disease of diverse manifestations.
These falsehoods are defended vigorously by the individual and by cultural institutions. This is natural and inevitable. The result is, however, that in an age of high technological knowledge, our societies maintain fundamental beliefs that remain essentially those of savages. Not reflecting reality, essentially believing in magic and omnipotent power, these beliefs destroy human effectiveness, generating misdirection, systemic problems and conflict.
Our institutions, including academia, accommodate and perpetuate these delusions and are the main reason that such delusion is maintained as popular belief. Our media supports and reflects our institutions. Our systems of education support and reflect our controlling institutions. All institutional pressure is toward the maintenance of existing cultural delusion. As the vectors of belief, our institutions cannot correct themselves nor support correction. The only pressure to do so is external, and issues from the cognizance of individuals.
Correction has to begin with the individual, recognizing the fallacies and accepting the reciprocal realities. At this time in history there is still little information in popular circulation about the real problem, the mechanisms, psychological and culturally systemic, that maintain the delusions and generate the dysfunction. People are beginning to recognize that there is something terribly wrong with extant premises and systems, but they have not been given the intellectual tools to understand and correct, to deal with their own delusions and those of their culture.
Enhanced communication increasingly allows people to see the activities and mind set of their leaders and of their institutions. This helps but is only marginally instructive. The realities reciprocal to the delusions need to be explained and, just as important, the popular delusions need to be exposed for what they are.
Public awareness of control dysfunction is growing in every quarter, reducing the effectiveness of propaganda as a means of social control. While the majority within any culture still cling to the popular delusions, there also appears to be a growing demand, within the more open societies, for truth on the part of their leaders and for straight reporting by the media. There also appears to be increasing recognition of the unpopular realities and implications of these realities.
At no time in history have changes in human thought and systems moved as rapid as they do today. At its heart, of course, is not only the press of burgeoning problems, but enhanced communication systems and increasing access of information by the public, as well as cultural drift from increased interaction. Today, anyone can sit down at a computer, log on to an Internet server, and access just about as much information as is available to most government officials. A highly active discussion group can draw participants from virtually every culture and social strata. Perhaps the greatest impetus for change, however, comes from the exponential growth of problems. There is increasing popular awareness of the vital necessity to stop treating symptoms and address the underlying pathologies, even if there is not a grasp of what those pathogens might be. There is increased awareness that our problems threaten, not just human societies and genus Homo, but are quickly reducing the Earth's capacity to support life.
There is increased recognition that our traditional concepts and approaches are not working. However, the various peoples have little sense of the changes that must be made. The level of popular delusion is too high.
To address the fundamental pathogens, humanity will be required to turn away from the traditional concepts and approaches of our institutions. Human societies will be required to recognize, accept and work within the unfolding realities of factual existence.
This fundamental change in direction is fraught with anguish, as old ideas die hard. However, it is a process that is already under way and gathering momentum. This basic change in direction constitutes a process of discovery in which you, as an individual, become the central and vital player. The survival of most life on this planet now depends upon how the human species conducts itself in terms of individual determination. Ultimately, the direction this species takes becomes an averaged, or algebraic summation, of the mentality of individuals.
Survival, the ability to correct behavior patterns within changing environments, will require marked changes in our thinking, our systems and the premises upon which we operate. We need information which has largely been denied us, information that has the ability to counter the propaganda and dysfunctional mandates of our institutions.
Within these pages, based on best evidence and new discoveries, are sketched some of the fundamental ideas and perceptions humanity will be required to gain, if we are to survive as an intelligent species.
Our instituted systems, in terms of premise structures, goals and organization, are based on ancient ideas and have evolved effective means of defense. They operate as living entities, focused on their own growth and perpetuation. Although this tendency toward self perpetuation is natural enough, as an institution, it grows beyond its objective purpose, generating problems as it increasingly usurps the natural autonomy, the life, of the individual. Social functionality is short-lived as an institution's primary directive. Institutions tend to become parasitical, growing beyond their own positive effectiveness, and at public expense.
All delusional systems tend to become parasitical, simply because there is resistance to feedback and because the internal needs of the system eventually take precedence over the health and carrying capacity of the host. Social systems and institutions, not keyed to natural functions, or oblivious to natural functions and their necessary, become the carriers and enforcers of serious cultural pathology.
Defective preconceptions are always detrimental to human function and resistant to change. They cause the individual to reject or misinterpret feedback from the environment. They also prevent the acceptance of real knowledge in the area of the delusion. This is why delusion is always accompanied by ignorance beyond that of the reciprocal reality. Delusion constitutes the primary barrier to learning. Within a group, the problem is compounded. Where the group is highly deluded, progress becomes impossible. Delusion always generates a degenerative delusion-ignorance syndrome.
Delusion-ignorance syndromes constitute the single greatest problem facing humanity, having plagued the human species throughout recorded history. They are directly or indirectly responsible for virtually all human conflict and humanity's inability to make fundamental progress in the area of its problems.
Cultural delusions are the reason for the wide disparity between technological knowledge and social progress. This inability to learn and make functional corrections, in terms of systems or organizations, has become the single greatest threat to the species. Institutions maintain the belief-ignorance within populations that insures human dysfunction and continued degeneration of the Earth environment.
The fruits of technical knowledge are readily accepted by practically everyone. We eagerly anticipate each new development. However, the underlying knowledge and implications, which constitutes a threat to our beliefs, the ancient myths, superstitions and misdirection we are born into and perpetuate, is summarily rejected.
Most of the real knowledge acquired, as well as its implications, never gets voiced or widely disseminated, because it poses a threat to accepted ideas and systems. It is rejected by editors, critics, tradespeople and pressure groups and is discouraged by our institutions. It threatens many of the ideas and activities of both individuals and institutions, and never becomes recognized, accepted or used by large numbers of people. Its existence is realized only by a scattered few, those whose thoughts are largely independent of the opinion makers of our cultures.
This book, for the first time, contains such information, both in terms of the real nature of existence and the nature and foundations of our problems. This is threatening information (for the institutions) and empowering information (for the individual). It is feared by those who demand that we maintain our ancient ideas, traditions and systems. It is revered by those who thirst for freedom and want to reach beyond what we are.
This is not a book for the timid. It is a book for those who recognize that our systems are ineffective and who are beginning to look for the real reasons why. This is a book for those who are beginning to realize that we cannot continue to stockpile and compound problems, and that the time has come for humanity to get real or face degeneration.
In this book, you will be exposed to ideas that conflict with many, if not most, of your present views. This is unavoidable. Where this material conflicts with your own views, you will find the encounter uncomfortable. All I can suggest is that, for any material you find uncomfortable, give yourself a chance and take a wait-and-see attitude.
Throughout the book I ask you to monitor your own emotional and intellectual responses to depictions of existence and problems that differ markedly from those of your culture. This will help you understand the powerful forces, both within yourself and within your culture, that keep you from gaining new ideas and insights.
Some individuals have learned to make corrections, often painful ones, in spite of emotional drives and cultural pressure to the contrary. However, humanity has not been effective at making corrections as groups or as societies. Individuals who are able or willing to track factual reality are too few in number to press for changes within our institutions.
Individuals who are tracking objective evidence, such as in good science and in technology, make necessary corrections and can make routine progress toward understanding and accepting reality. However, our institutions have foundation premises born of ancient ignorance and superstition. Regardless of the progress they make, these systems maintain fundamental ideas that generate misdirection and hold humanity bound and helpless in the throes of institutionalized dementia.
We have looked to our corrupt governing institutions for leadership and directions, without understanding that, in their present forms, this is not possible. Their operational premises, and the beliefs of their minions, not recognizing and completely ignorant of the nature of existence, make our institutions the least likely source of direction.
Perhaps the most difficult task of our lives is to recognize our personal delusions and those of our own cultures for what they are; to gain a realization that existence has virtually nothing to do with the way we have been taught to believe and to think.
The hardest concept to recognize, and accept, is that there are things absolutely and fundamentally wrong with our basic ideas about existence and humanity. Until our perceptive, conceptual and reasoning flaws are addressed, we will continue to generate further pathology and multiply our problems.
In the American people, we see an increasing awareness that our governments, at all levels, constitute the most immediate threat to the society. Government's attempts to protect, provide for and completely control, suppresses the very functions required for effective control and species survival.
Our governmental functionaries, others who feed at the public trough, and the media, are increasing efforts to downplay this awareness and to maintain the idea that only government can provide leadership and solve problems. Meanwhile, government, at all levels presses to increase domain and jurisdiction, pressing for further control over populations. Effective control and reality lies elsewhere, in the recognition and implementation of natural principles, achievable only by highly autonomous individuals, recognizing and rejecting our conceptual pathogens and moving to unleash the mind and the body of the individual.
This book is an effort to spell out some of the presently unrecognized and unaccepted realities and principles, as well as to spotlight some of the more damaging myths and fantasies of our cultures, particularly in the American experience.
Because of its very nature, presenting material critical of virtually every institution and belief system, the writing of this book has been largely a solitary process with relatively little feedback. The work should be read critically. This is only a qualitative description of fundamental existence and principles, as well as basic delusions of human cultures. Quantitative analysis and numerical specificity remains largely untouched in these areas of cultural taboo. Definitive numbers are not available for most of the factors and effects I discuss. These are areas where mainstream psychology and sociology have been conspicuously silent.
Although one can see relationships and causes, the details of these pictures are ill-defined. With increased focus and light brought to bear upon these dark places, however, the pictures should become increasingly clear. Where I have seen the reality, it will be defendable. Where I have erred, there will be no defense. Such areas will need correcting. This corrective process should be an expected part of any work of nonfiction.
As to your role as reader, read carefully. Take nothing I say at face value. Your focus and function should logically be to learn to what degree these concepts reflect factual reality. This will tend to nudge you into a position of cleaving to objective evidence, accepting or rejecting on the basis of manifest existence, not preconceived human perception. The job is to see existence and our problems on their own terms, as they are, in and of themselves. Never allow any concept or viewpoint to become sacrosanct, neither mine, your own or that of an institution or society. Accept nothing at face value. Any word has but a symbolic reference to an existence we sense and try to communicate about. It is not the reality itself. Presenting a reality is a continuing process of approximation, whether we are speaking of language or conceptualization.
Using the rules of best evidence, logic and objective reason, you should ever be the final judge. Accept nothing unquestioned. Let no individual, organization or government usurp your natural right to final judgment. Submit your mind only to objective evidence.
Do not allow yourself to be swayed in your judgment by the institutions upon whose toes I will tread. Be instructed, however, by the tactics the media and the functionaries of these institutions use in their efforts to neutralize this work.
This book, as any work of non-fiction, should be accepted only to the degree that its contents reflect factual reality. Those realities will stand independent of opinion or perception, and are the private domain of no individual or institution.
Nature's principles do not require the recognition, acceptance or approval of any 'authority'. They are just there, free to use or ignore by anyone aware of them. This book represents the first faltering step toward addressing human problems exclusively in the light of the factual nature of existence. In no way should this be construed as a final statement, but as a still poorly focused snap-shot of our species at a critical point in its development.
This work will unavoidably offend many readers, simply because unvarnished reality is so divergent from what we have been taught. It is a book for those who would question their own assumptions and the ideas of their culture. I can only advise you to hang tough and discover how much of your own life has been distorted by our cultural myths and delusions.
With a most sincere desire that you gain your highest potential, I remain...
