Richard Brodie is a speaker, thinker and futurist. He is originally from Massachusetts.
The creator of Microsoft Word and author of two best-selling books, he writes and speaks on many topics with the broad purpose of inspiring individuals, businesses and societies toward excellence and quality of life.
Mr. Brodie is the author of Virus of the Mind, the first book devoted to memetics, the new science of "memes," the invisible but very real DNA of human society.
With formal training in computer science, psychology, and linguistics, Mr. Brodie's background prepared him to be among the first to recognize the importance of this new field, a convergence of evolutionary biology, cognitive science, psychology, and political science.
A key Microsoft employee five years before the software giant went public, Mr. Brodie was chairman Bill Gates's technical assistant and the original author of Microsoft Word, the first computer program to be inducted into the Smithsonian Institution's National Software Collection.
