Download The Build Freedom Project and Browse Offline, or Upload to Your Own Website!
In addition to browsing this website online, you can also download this project for browsing offline (hosted on your own computer), by fetching a single "7-Zip" archive file, extract the files/contents to anywhere on your computer, and start by simply loading any .html file (e.g. "index.html") - inside the directory named "published" - into your web-browser.
Click here to download this project's 7-Zip-archive file (size: ~30MB). (Note: if the download link fails (e.g. if you're already viewing this offline, or from a web-site mirror which is missing the file), you can get the latest version online at: http://buildfreedom.org/archive/download.html )
See also: Copyright Information; Usage/Redistribution Conditions pertaining to this website and all files downloaded therefrom.
If you don't have "7-Zip" installed, or to learn more about it, see:
Inside this project's 7-Zip-archive file, you'll find these directories:
- published/
- The files which you can browse on your local computer.
- Also the identical files which you see hosted online. If you want to operate a mirror of this website, simply upload everything here to anywhere in your web-server that's publicly viewable. (This project has been specially designed such that you can place the files anywhere, and everything will still work, because it uses relative-links to/from everything.)
- Also a script to optionally setup your own custom webserver (nodejs on GNU/Linux - on a local or remote system).
- source/
- The base article/chapter/text content, prior to adding features, extra navigation, sitemaps, etc. (All files within "published" are created from these.)
- Scripts to:
- create the "published" version
- synchronize updates with your remote webserver
- TEMP/
- Temporary workspace - ignore - only used for development purposes.
Still TODO:
- Add more ways to download/browse from:
- other download services
- more websites
- BitTorrent
- rsync daemon
- FTP/SFTP
- private browsing/download via TOR .onion website (though the best privacy method is to just download the project and browse offline)
- etc. ?
- Create public code repository, maybe github, and/or hosted here.
