Marketing Case Studies

by Frederick Mann

Introduction
Anyone is welcome to submit the details of their current Internet marketing methods to Frederick Mann to be included in this article. This could be a great way to improve your Internet marketing.

Case Study #1
I want to join YPA [see Double Your Money & More!] because it just seems to make sense. However, I am still trying to promote Program X and have had just average results from the ezine advertising that I have used. I have placed ads in 24 ezines using the MLM Wall of Shame intro letter and I have had only 13 people enter Program X so I am not exactly a superstar Internet marketer but I really want to learn to become very good at Internet marketing.

I have joined FREEnetleads and I have my own BigBooster7Million clone site. My plan is to capture email addresses using these sites and then continuously promote to my opt-in lists and keep building their trust as you do.

My first question is: How would you recommend building an opt-in list? would you use:

  1. Ezine advertising
  2. Purchase email lists
  3. Run Internet classified ads
  4. Use Direct mail or offline methods

I want to try to write some articles concerning making money on the Internet. My plan is to write a series of articles and submit these articles to ezines that relate to people trying to make money online. My thinking is if the articles are good, some of the ezines will publish these articles for free and give me a spot to put my contact information and a website or email address. Also, I hope to develop my own ezine and collect email addresses that way. However, I am not very good at writing the "killer copy" needed to suck people in and give their email address to me.

My second question is: Do you know where I can get articles relating to money making on the internet? I noticed you have many such articles on the BigBooster website.

Which brings me to my third question: Could I copy the format (not word to word) of these articles?

I would rather copy someone who can write well than spending years trying to "crack the code" myself.

The fourth question that I have is: If I send people to my BigBooster7Million website, will I always have the opportunity to market to them or will you market to them?

Last question: what top programs or courses would you recommend to someone like me who currently has just a very small opt-in email list?

Analysis #1
One problem with the way you've been promoting Program X is that you're most likely only giving yourself "one shot" at joining. They either join Program X or they don't. Whichever they choose, you don't get their email addresses so you can promote to them repeatedly. Another consideration is that many other people may have already promoted Program X to the same ezine subscribers.

You may get higher responses by using different sales letters, for example, WBM#81 - "Magic Wand" + $10 = $100 Per Week! But instead of sending prospects direct to the Program X signup page, it would be better to first send them to an autoresponder.

You can treat autoresponder subscribers as having opted in. With InfoGeneratorPRO you can very efficiently email the subscribers of any number of responders -- I have more than 20 responders!

Another advantage of doing it this way is that you automate the process of sending out the second Program X sales letter.

I suggest you do some more experimenting on how to best grow your opt-in lists. The rest of this article provides some additional methods.

You're welcome to use versions of our articles, provided you include proper attributions and links to the originals.

If you send visitors to BB7M, and they join, you will be able to market to them for as long as they remain members.

I suggest you also use AdTactics, because it enables you to market repeatedly to a growing list of members.

In learning to become a more effective marketer, it's important that you identify where you are and what you need to do next to advance. See INTERNET MARKETING FOR BEGINNERS & PROFESSIONALS.

Applying Jay Abraham's Marketing Principles
Some years ago, I acquired Jay Abraham's booklets from his "Business Breakthroughs" course:

I started BigBooster in 1998 with very little capital.

Now, in 2002, we have a burgeoning business with over 80,000 subscribers and members! Much of this success is directly due to Jay's ideas and principles ... and the further ideas they inspired.

Jay's principle of not putting limits on your expectations of what customers can buy has inspired me to constantly look for hidden limitations that could hold me back. It also helped me recognize the power of the "10X principle" -- you can improve your results by a factor of 10!

With an Internet-based business, it's important to get visitors. Even more important is to "capture" as many of those visitors as possible, so you can market to them repeatedly, improving the chances that they will become customers. You can see how I use the 10X principle to "capture" visitors at BigBooster and BuildFreedom.

"BigBooster Associates" is another example of "capturing" visitors. We have over 10,000 BigBooster Associates!

"USP" (Unique Selling Proposition) inspired the concept of "Perfectly Performing Programs."

Jay's "Grow Through Endorsements" helped me see the power of the A.M. endorsement when the opportunity arose. It's a major factor behind the success of BigBooster7Million, which has over 80,000 members!

A quick examination of the above webpages, will reveal how we've implemented most of Jay's "21 Power Principles" -- see Index of Special Reports and Position Papers.

Our success, to a great degree, depends on the success of our subscribers and members. And their success largely depends on their education. Jay emphasizes "educating your customers." I personally invest a great deal of time in the ongoing development of BigBooster's educational resources. As an example of this, see Use "Levers" to Increase Your Response Rates 10 Times or More!:

  1. The BIGGEST SECRET of Email Marketing!
  2. How to Create a "Community" to Market to... OVER AND OVER!
  3. How to Write an Email that Attracts ATTENTION and SELLS!
  4. How to write KILLER Sales Letters! - Part 1
  5. How to write KILLER Sales Letters! - Part 2
  6. USE Autoresponders to AUTOMATE Your Email Marketing!
  7. Why You MUST BEAT Your COMPETITION!
  8. The POWER of MARKETING LEVERAGE!
  9. The SECOND BIGGEST SECRET of Email Marketing!
  10. How to get MORE TRAFFIC with almost ZERO effort!
  11. How to EDUCATE prospects to CREATE CUSTOMERS!
  12. How to Use MAGIC WORDS to SEDUCE your prospects... and COMPEL them to return to your site like BEES TO HONEY!

Jay's "marketing leverage" concept helped to inspire the above series.

BigBooster7Million uses a very important form of leverage in that our members market BB7M in order to effectively grow their own opt-in lists they can promote to repeatedly. Of course, this grows the overall membership we can market to.

In "Masters of Marketing" Jay says, "Arrange to "parasitically" benefit from the customers you've acquired...or the prospects you couldn't sell..." The Internet particularly lends itself to implementing this principle through what are called "exit-exchange programs." The main ones we use are:

When visitors leave certain of our webpages, we gain new traffic as a result. For example, for BigBooster Associates to gain access to our Private Programs (updated frequently), they have to log in. When they leave the login page, a MxExit window pops up, promoting someone else's website. In return, McExit pops up our website when visitors leave certain webpages of other members.

SubscriberDrive provides us with about 100 new subscribers every month.
