TARK'S TRUTHS

1. When all is said and done, more is said than done.  Make it happen.

2. A winning performance always beats a winning attitude. Give me action, not motivation.

3. Performance is not a function of salary; salary is a function of performance.

4. Give your people a scoreboard: They need to know whether they are winning or losing.

5. People don't want praise so much as attention - you gotta care!

6. Don't be afraid of the boss - he needs you too.

7. No good advice has ever been given at the top of one's lungs.

8. The good news: It's okay to lose.

9. Quitting is not the opposite of winning - it's part of winning.

10. Beware the big play: The 80-yard drive is better than the 80-yard pass.

11. It takes a team to make a superstar.

12. You, not your barber, are the best Monday-morning quarterback.

13. You don't know whether a play works until you run it - get into the arena and play your game. No good decision was ever made in a swivel chair.

14. One-sided deals will come back to haunt you; therefore, don't sell - let the client buy.

15. Always ask, always listen.

16. There's nothing like a hanging to concentrate the mind - always play as if you were losing.

17. Don't work harder, work limber.

18. Ignore the competition; love the customer.

19. A winner is supposed to come in second.
