A Note on Terminology

The existence of the phenomenon eventually described in this paper as M0 was originally recognised by two independent workers. Carter referred to it as the "Stupidity Virus", some sort of socially induced cognition damaging state of mind that he had successfully broken while studying how to teach software engineering. Allsopp called it "The Monster", a bizarre emergent social phenomenon that he had recognised through several inexplicable common characteristics that prevented him [from] getting people to look at his remarkable results working on the education of so-called ADHD children, which his evidence showed was a genetically related "condition".

Since Allsopp's term was better it was adopted by Carter as the investigation continued, they merged their data to reveal a genetic immunity to a socially conditioned disorder, and "The Monster" became a concrete thing rather than a conceptual bucket for an inexplicable phenomenon. As he was preparing to write this paper, Carter's feedback exploiting cognition popped the naturally immune science fiction author Robert Anson Heinlein up to point out that what the species has been ravaged by is a Monster -- it probably has a big family. Since we have spent the last 6,000 years cavorting about in a mind-numbing feedback loop and nearly trashed our planet in the process thanks to this one, we will be very keen to go hunting other Monsters before they see us. We must give the fully conscious workers that will spot them every bit of help we can, and full consciousness uses aesthetics in all sorts of ways. We will need to distinguish between Monsters that we find, and will probably want to use lots of lovely group theory to describe their ways, so Carter selected M0 (em-zero) to look good on paper, since group theory was all great runes and a few squiggles last time he looked, and his word processor doesn't do squiggles.

Identifying the "Family of Monsters"
Alan Carter and his friends have identified the "Ghost Not" and "Monster Zero" Monsters.

Ernst Cassirer identified the "Primeval Stupidity" monster.

John F. Schumaker identified the "Paranormal Imperative," which I expanded into the "Unreality Imperative" monster.

Dr. Michael Hewitt-Gleeson has identified the "PTV = Plato Truth Virus" monster.

Alfred Korzybski identified some "Semantic Monsters," but not all. Some of his students identified the "Is-Monster" and developed E-Prime -- see The Anatomy of Slavespeak, where I expose the "Slavespeak" monster.

L. Ron Hubbard identified many monsters in Dianetics and Scientology. (Unfortunately, the resulting organizations themselves may be monster-ridden! -- #TL15A: The Good and the Bad.)

George Gurdjieff identified numerous human monsters, particularly that much of human "wakefulness" is in fact a form of sleep.

Friedrich Nietzsche identified quite a few human monsters.

Max Stirner was probably the greatest "slayer of human monsters" of all time.

Ayn Rand and the libertarians that followed identified and expanded on the "Coercion Monster" -- see Why You Must Recognize and Understand Coercion.

I have probably exposed the "Government Monster" more thoroughly than anyone else.

In Idenics the "Fixed-Identity Monster" has been identified and a cure developed. (Many "personal unwanted conditions" are alleviated through Idenics.)

What other Monsters need to be added?

Suppose several individuals were to:

1. Make a determined effort to clear as many monsters as possible from their individual minds;

2. Form a cooperating group who assist each other to clear as many monsters as possible from their minds.

3. Operate in such a way that their "comprehensive monster-clearing initiative" spreads more widely.
