I have been forced to pay my ex-husbands' tax bill for the Last 5 years. My returns have been taken and applied to his tax debt. I have sent documentation to various government representatives and reply to the correspondence that is sent from the IRS. I was told nothing would happen until my appeal had been heard, I then received a notice that they were again keeping my tax return, the following day I received notice that my appeal was denied because I didn't have sufficient hardship to warrant their returning my refund. I believe they run you around until you get tired and quit. I have been working on this problem for 5 years and have a file of paperwork at least 5 inches thick.

On March 19, 1996, 24 heavily armed IRS agents entered Jim M's office in Sunriver, Ore. Possessing a federal search warrant, and as part of an ongoing US Department of Justice Grand Jury criminal investigation, the agents removed every file, invoice, and piece of paper from the office and all personal financial information from his home. Though the investigation has ruined his reputation, bankrupted his business and wrought pain and suffering to his family, no charges have ever been filed.

Three years after the raid, Jim still has no idea what crime he is suspected of committing, and his confiscated personal property has not been returned.

The IRS raids were made possible by false testimony of paid, reward-seeking IRS and US Dept. of Justice informants who were disgruntled employees and convicted felons.

Fifty-one year-old Jim M steadfastly maintains his innocence and welcomes the opportunity to testify "...in front of anyone, under any circumstances about anything that might bring an end to this diabolical investigation."

In contrast to the kinder, gentler agency that IRS officials have attempted to portray as of late, Jim M says, "My situation clearly demonstrates that the IRS and the US Dept. of Justice are still in the business of abusing American citizens. Their methods of operation have nothing to do with due process or the administration of justice."

Prior to doing business with a foreign entity, I retained a high profile IRS tax specialist to advise. After conducting the business a "jerk" with the criminal investigation division tried to get me indicted on criminal charges. It is obvious he did not understand the code. This did not deter him from huge wide spread confiscation of documents and my cost of $92,000.00 to date in defense cost. I ultimately had to hire an expert to explain to the US Attorney the facts of law. I still don't know if it's over, but I am. After 30 years in business (always paying taxes of every sort)

I am now forced to sell due to the huge attorney fees. I am broke. The IRS cannot yet explain why they had the off the wall notion they did about the meaning of the code they may still attempt to prosecute/persecute me for.

On june 2, 1999 IRS agents broke into my savings account and stole over $1400 under pretence of back child support. I wrote the advocacy bureau but they are silent. I had paid up the support and was not getting any statements. They chose to ignore my letters. They are criminals. Their famous line "Hi, I am from the Internal Revenue Service, I am here to help you". Well, we don't need that kind of help. They show up armed to the teeth like we are some kind of dangerous criminal. Why don't they go after the real criminals? Why? Because US citizens are easier targets. A bunch a lazy-ass sob's they are. What happened to the kinder gentler IRS? Nothing, they never were. They are just a bunch thugs,

My parent are self employed farmers and struggle to survive on very little means through this noble but non lucrative profession. They almost lost their farm in the 80's like so many others when the banks would not give them anymore loans to fund their farm expenses. On top of that my father had fairly good crops in 85 and that money went to cover the land. The next two years were horrible and they could not come up with the $12,000 dollars that the IRS wanted paid in full immediately. They started harassing my parents. My parents tried to work out payment plans but the IRS wanted their money now. My mother and father are not wealthy and besides their 100 acres in land they have very little assets. Their little 2 bedroom farm house is worth very little and they have one beat up pickup truck. They have worked very hard all their lives and the IRS treats them like pond scum. In 1998 they had finally paid off there 1985 back tax plus their taxes for each year. Over the years, they have had all their bank accounts wiped out on a random basis. They even took my 12 year old brother's savings account earned from his 4H money for raising hogs every year, money he was saving for college was taken ($600. They took my grandmas savings too. The IRS charged $45,000 in penalties over the years above and beyond regular taxes. Yesterday my father got a call saying that he owes $5,000 more for civil charges (for being late in 85) He has already paid over $50,000 in charges and thought he finally was done with it, now this. He is scared he will lose the farm. I love him and my mother. Haven't they paid enough in sweat and tears and money over the many years?

I am a practicing CPA. I have worked for the IRS in the past as a Revenue Agent and Appeals Officer. I always had the highest rating for my work. I have been in private practice for the last 11 years. I now represent taxpayers who are being harrassed by the IRS. Currently, the IRS is attempting to take away my ability to practice. They have audited my Federal Tax Returns for years, and they are doing it under a cloak of secrecy. I cannot find out who my accusers are, even though I have a right to know, under the law. I have hundreds of stories of abuse and misconduct by Revenue Agents and Revenue Officers alike.

My father and I are self employed in the insurance industry. At this time I am paying the IRS $200 dollars a month of which $102 is penalties and interest on a balance of $2200. My father on the other hand owes $16000. He worked out a plan with the IRS to pay $600 a month. When he got his first statement the penalties and interest were $800. How can this be legal? They are a bunch of ruthless bloodsuckers. There are no other agencies or banks or any other kind of financial institution that is allowed to charge the penalties and interest that the government charges. There needs to be another tea party.

In 1977 I had a cash flow problem and was delinquent on my estimated tax of $750 I responded to a mailed notice and requested additional time to pay, but things just didn't get better so 60 days later I was instructed to go to the IRS office to meet with an agent. Big mistake. He harassed me at the office, then harassed my then wife on the phone into tears of terror and gave me a 8 weeks to pay double the $750 debt. If I didn't pay on time, he said they would levy my bank acct. I made every payment on time and at the end they still levied my bank account anyway freezing my funds and causing checks to bounce. At the time we lived in a measly 2 bdrm. apt. had 1 baby girl and another child on the way and I was just eking out a living in my small business. They didn't give a damn. I think of the traumas that heartless bastard IRS Agent put my wife through while she was on the phone with him. The power freak loved watching me cringe in his little torture cubicle.

Despite the fact that we were a family of 5 and our income was $18,000 annually ($15,000 the previous year), we were audited. The IRS would not allow one of the deductions our tax preparer used, and they instructed us to pay $9,000 (approx.) in back taxes. We could not keep up, and before long our tax debt was $15,000. There was no money for food. I could not believe how hungry I was. Only our children ate. We could not afford a car, so I had to walk a mile to do laundry, carrying the laundry and my children. I became very ill from lack of food and I weighed only 104 lbs., even though I'm 5ft 7in. We lived liked this for years. But we never gave up. I could not believe what was happening to us, but we were too poor to try to start a law suit. It is now many years later. My husband and I have worked very hard. He has received an international award of excellence in his field, he has coached our children's soccer teams, he is a scout leader, and is the treasurer for the PTA at one of our children's school. When the children were a little older, I went back to school and became a teacher. One of our sons is a national merit scholar finalist and our other son is working on his eagle scout badge. Our daughter plays cello for the conservatory and has gotten academic recognition for her test scores in school. We are good, hard working people. But we have never been able to recover from the financial blow that was dealt to us by the IRS when we were just beginning our lives, and our children were so young. My husband and I would like to buy our first home, after 20 years of marriage. But we do not have enough money for a down payment. The $15,000 that we borrowed from our grandparents to pay the IRS, so many years ago, was meant to be the nest egg for our home. Since then, we have always been a day late and many dollars short. Perhaps there is nothing that can be done now, but when I was 26 years old, with three small children, the IRS took away took away my dreams. And no matter how hard we've worked, we can't seem to get them back.
