WBM#542: What's the Biggest Success Killer?

by Frederick Mann

(Excerpt from WealthBooster Magazine -- Issue #542 -- September 6th, 2009)

There are two basic ways to approach this issue:

1. ADD a POSITIVE;

2. REMOVE a NEGATIVE.

I don't know what the "biggest success killer" is for any specific individual.

For some people, it might be that they don't add positives to their lives when they become available.

When opportunity knocks, they lock the door.

Regarding removing negatives, there may be one factor that constrains you much more than anything else. Identifying and improving this one factor may provide you with greater "benefits per effort" than anything else.

Google: "leverage point"; "problem solving techniques"; "theory of constraints"; "root cause analysis"; "fault tree analysis"; five-by-five why's; "barrier analysis"; "causal factor analysis"; "liebig's law"; triz; "psychological inertia"; "reverse salient"; "weakest link"; "SWOT analysys."

You may find a great deal on how to apply such methods in business, but rather little on how individuals can apply them to their personal lives. Why do you think this might be?

If you've been trying to make money online for a considerable time with little or no success, then there must be something that prevents or constrains you from earning.

There may be one thing that constrains you more than anything else. One way to identify this factor is to ask someone who knows you well. Note if any EXCUSES automatically pop into your head when you think about doing this.

Your brain may be infected with "EXCUSITIS." If so, part of your brain acts like an "Automatic Excuse Generator" (AEG). When you think of doing something (particularly if it "feels uncomfortable"), your AEG pumps out EXCUSES.

If you're infected with excusitis, then this email has already provided many "excuse triggers." It may be worth writing down all the EXCUSES you've thought of so far while reading this.

If you suffer from excusitis, then your AEG might have popped up some "REASONS" -- DISGUISED EXCUSES.

You may want to read "What's Your Excuse Now?" (even if you've already read it).

I suspect that, for some people, if they overcome EXCUSITIS, they will quickly become more successful. Excusitis could be their biggest success killer.
