A letter to Frank R. Wallace from an Honest Neocheater
Date: Mon Feb 2 22:38:41 1998 Hostname: ws-6.wired-cafe.com Email: hn@freenet.calgary.ab.caThe escape from the anticivilization is needed as one's soul is trapped in an irrational context. One's soul does not want to be here.
But, mysticism meets both the neocheater's and the mystic's needs. If you think about this, you will understand why the mystic's soul is always seeking a context, and why I am a metaphysical Houdini -- always escaping context. The neocheater does not value life and the mystic is of no value to life. Yes, I do attack and undermine the souls of others, but remember, I do it to myself first. Like Plato said: "The first and best victory is to conquer the self." If you were to look at my face, you would see there is nothing to attack -- no values to threaten. But oh, to look into the face of a creator...there is so much to attack.
My philosophy is based on error, so I can't lose. It's perfect. There's literally nothing to attack. Yes, I will admit I feel somewhat disturbed (just barely) by your penetrating the foundation of our civilization. ...Heresy is something we cannot ignore. For the longest time, we've had this tacit understanding: we would not penetrate your world, and you would not penetrate ours. You've broken the rules of the game, Mr. Wallace.
Yet, it is we who are the experts at reflecting reality to the masses. Don't tell me what we reflect is an illusion. When enough people see and believe, they act, and the result is metaphysical. And here is my trump card, Mr. Wallace. Like you say about a truly good person being unable to recognize his own goodness because it (like the ether of existence) is such a continuous presence, he knows nothing else. But, he can easily recognize when he's bad because it does not fit with his psyche. Me? Well, my soul is corrupted enough that I no longer perceive the bad within me. I am immune from guilt, but creators feel guilt so easily. ...Pretty ironic, don't you think. And yet, the genesis of the guilt is real: each has committed the Original Sin by compromising his consciousness to adapt to this civilization.
Consciousness is what gives one choice -- control over reality. I've reduced my consciousness to the point where I no longer have a choice. You see, everyone must protect his place in the anticivilization, at whatever cost, because it is the only place he knows. Anything else, for him, is to risk the deepest fear, a total loss of context -- a kind of spiritual death. You are fighting against people's survival instincts, Mr. Wallace. I am helping to prepare an alternative place for them. Turn your knowledge around. Don't think of inducing mysticism as evil, rather recognize the neocheater's goodness in using mysticism to make living in an anticivilization bearable.
Neo-Tech: Enemy of the People
One can disgustingly withdraw from life avoiding Neo-Tech. Or, one can excitingly soar into the future using Neo-Tech.
Two Natures
Given the circumstances, anyone will attack, destroy, even kill to preserve his or her life orientation, livelihood, or career agenda. That person will act either as a hidden criminal collecting unearned wealth or as an ignoble follower collecting government-forced redistributions of wealth. Such is the nature of Earth's inherently dishonest anticivilization. Thus, everyone invested in the anticivilization must eventually avoid, reject, or attack Neo-Tech to survive. Indeed, Neo-Tech in cyberspace is the ultimate threat to everyone's investment in the anticivilization. Such is the nature of Neo-Tech's fully integrated honesty.
Neo-Tech's Destiny is Everyone's Destiny
To survive, the anticivilization must stop Neo-Tech from spreading across cyberspace, especially among those disenfranchised from anticivilization investments. Yet, all acts to stop Neo-Tech are easily outflanked by its two essences: (1) wide-scope business accounting and (2) fully integrated honesty. As presented in Reference #1, consider the best shot at Neo-Tech by a Master Neocheater grinding his heel into the anticivilization. He compellingly predicts Neo-Tech's demise. Indeed, his statements are accurate from a closed-circle anticivilization context. But, wide-scope accountings and integrations from a Civilization-of-the-Universe context outflank his predictions. Such outflankings foretell the end of both the anticivilization and its neocheaters through universal business dynamics. The demise of the anticivilization becomes irrevocable with two flanks that reach beyond any neocheater's act, statement, or prediction coming from within an anticivilization.
Flank #1 is Metaphysical and Factual
Both the totality and the details of what the master neocheater says in his document are essentially correct from within his closed-circle boundaries -- from within his mystical bubbles floating about the anticivilization. But, the fully integrated honesty of Neo-Tech flows without limits. It bursts all mystical bubbles in reaching far beyond anticivilization dishonesties and pragmatisms into the future of universal facts and principles. ...The anticivilization and its neocheaters are not competitive against the universal business dynamics of Neo-Tech. Against wide-scope business competition arriving through cyberspace, neocheaters and their anticivilization vanish.
Flank #2 is Personal and Spiritual
Even more important for every conscious individual is achieving productive purpose and eternal happiness from life. Neocheaters and parasitical elites fail on both counts, regardless of their anticivilization "victories". By contrast, competitive value producers succeed on both counts, regardless of their anticivilization "defeats".
Conclusion
Anticivilization hostilities toward Neo-Tech are escalating. Yet, barring a nuclear, chemical, or biological apocalypse, Neo-Tech will quantum jump everyone from Earth's neocheater-driven anticivilization into the business-driven Civilization of the Universe. For, the fully integrated honesty of Neo-Tech delivers eternal prosperity and happiness to conscious beings.

So you think you're starting to win, do you? Well, as hard as it is for you to believe, Neo-Tech will disintegrate long before we ever do. To date, Neo-Tech has only been attacked by minor, two-bit neocheaters. I'm going to do you a favor -- I'm going to put all my cards on the table so you will understand why you should quit while you're ahead. To explain, let's begin with points of agreement.
Philosophy is about how to solve human problems -- which is another way of saying the soul's needs are primary. Existence (or more dynamically, creation) is good, rational and holy. There is an unbridgeable gulf between the philosophy of destruction and creation. In fact, in a fully integrated sense, the philosophy of destruction cannot actually exist -- it is an antiphilosophy where the ego's (or consciousness) needs are primary. This is why mysticism is a much needed buffer between the two philosophies.
Your philosophy exists within the bounds of creation. Any practitioner of this philosophy is a creator, is holy, or as you prefer -- is Zon. A creator is a rational soul existing in a rational universe. A destroyer, or as you say -- neocheater, is one who's soul is integrated with irrationality existing within an irrational context, i.e. our civilization. As a neocheater, I operate outside the bounds of creation. I enjoy the feeling of power, God-like power to create something from nothing ... POWER, right here, right now, on this earth, and I have no reason to give that up for the illusion -- delusion? -- that is Zon. Delusion?
Integrated Objectivism not possible on this earth? As you state, its tenets are: What is is. Perceive it. Integrate it (honestly). Act on it. Idealize it? Not quite, the last tenet is: Reflect it. Drawing on philosophy as principled problem solving, REFLECTION is what PROVES the solution, as in plugging in an answer for a math equation. To restate: 1. What is is. 2. Perceive it. (value awareness) a. Sense it. (external awareness) b. Feel it. (internal awareness) 3. Integrate it. (value judgment) a. Think about it. (integration of right brain contents by left) b. Idealize it. (Imagine and desire it -- integration of left brain contents by right) 4. Act on it. (value production) 5. Reflect it. (value reflection)
Value Reflection requires the existence of a soul -- otherwise there is nothing to reflect. Without the soul, one exists only as a conception without a perceptional referent to reality -- i.e. one exists only in one's mind or in the minds of others. A soul is not just value awareness as what happens when an animal is stimulated by an event. Nor is it when consciousness organizes these value awarenesses, re-organizes them and chooses an action based on the ideal organization. Consciousness can bring awareness to one's soul -- but it is not the same as one's soul. (Of course, to the extent one is conscious of one's soul the greater one's spirit is.) A soul is a continuous part of one's being -- that which exists regardless of immediate outside circumstances -- that was the point of "The Fountainhead". It is that which values, the motive power, the Prime Mover that is created when the reverse conceptual/perceptual loop meets the forward perceptual/conceptual loop.
Consciousness, as Rand understood in her pre-Atlas days, is not an entity, it is a mirror. More specifically, it is a two-way mirror with a perceptual and conceptual side. Kant was correct, if consciousness has identity, it cannot be relied on to integrate reality. Any relation between two existents changes the nature of both existents. As you conclude (not consistently) from Einstein's and Rand's work: mass, energy, time and space AND consciousness are not existents, but are RELATIONS between existents. And that of these basic concepts, consciousness is the Prime Concept -- that which is formed without a perceptual referent to reality.
One can only vanish irrationality by accepting that metaphysically one's consciousness is nothing. Any philosophy that gives consciousness identity is subjectivism -- a fake philosophy -- one that is invented, not the philosophy Rand discovered. As long as one treats consciousness as an entity, one can never be fully honest.
However, all this, all that we agree on, is useless intellectualism. In this civilization, one must use one's consciousness to create an identity in order to survive. And nowhere on Earth can you prove to me that Zon -- an uncorrupted soul -- exists. For example, let's look at Neo-Tech. Neo-Tech, like Earth's Objectivism, provides the shell but not the kernel of reason. You could learn from Nietzsche who said: "He who has a reason why, can bear any how." That is, Neo-Tech is big on internal authority (leading to the blind alley of consciousness as a primary), but it does not integrate it with internal motivation.
More specifically, look at "Cosmic Business Control". Except for the appendix (that which is separated from the main body of work), it operates from a vaguely malevolent universe premise -- a kind of "life is tough and you have to be tougher" perspective. Like "Atlas", it turns people off emotionally, even if they buy into it intellectually. It advocates DTC (Discipline, Thought, then Control)-- discipline to cure mysticism, that feelings do not control thoughts, nor that "EMOTIONS BEGET ACTIONS". Fascinating -- a neo-platonist stoic would be very convertible with this, though they would come to far different conclusions than you. Certainly, in the broadest sense, actions (external) do beget feelings (internal). But this is not the sense the author intended. He means consciously chosen actions precede emotions. It is possible to feel without thinking, but to think without feeling? What would power that thought, what basis would one have to make a value judgment? To act without emotion? If you had an external energy source you might be able to make a good robot, but it would make a very poor ballet dancer.
Correctly defined, it is value reflection that is the reward for achievement. Rather than discipline being a short-term strategy to avoid acting on irrational desires. DTC is its god -- both the method and purpose of its work, and people are to be used as its disciples. Like "Atlas", it relentlessly removes the irrational context of this civilization, and thus offers the soul no room to exist. You had to come up with Zon to allow the escape into the Civilization of the Universe.
So you will stop wasting yours and everyone else's time, I will prove that only mysticism can offer, temporarily at least, an escape from this anticivilization. (Life is short, so temporary is long enough.)
Date: Mon Feb 2 22:38:41 1998 Email: laradke@freenet.calgary.ab.caThe escape is needed as one's soul is trapped in an irrational context. One's soul "does not want to be here". Mysticism meets both the neocheater's and the mystic's needs. When a mystic's mind approaches mysticism, it blanks out and thus becomes dependent on me for authority. I? I blank out the blank out to avoid being caught in my own mysticism. If you think about this, you will understand why the mystic's soul is always seeking a context, and why I am a metaphysical Houdini -- always escaping context. From a Jaynes's view, the neocheater holds a concept as primary, so the integration of the left brain is consciously blocked from going to the right brain; the effect is that signals go from the right to left subconsciously.
The neocheater hates having these subconscious perceptions contradicting previously accepted (though irrational) concepts, and so feeling a lack of control over reality, needs the integration of the left brain to be blocked from going to the right brain even more. Eventually, he loses his emotional awareness of the anticivilization. The mystic's integration of the right brain is consciously blocked from going to the left brain. The effect is that signals go from the left to right subconsciously. The mystic's right brain is afraid of receiving these signals from the left...that some external influence is guiding his perceptions. So he has to block the integration of the right brain by the left brain even more. Eventually, he loses his intellectual awareness of the anticivilization.
Psychologically, all this blocking (funneling at either side of consciousness) is to hide the one fact: The neocheater does not value life, and the mystic is of no value to life. Though, in reality (outside the context of the anticivilization), for the mystic, life (lived within the anticivilization) is of no value to him. Without a mystic to justify my existence, I am of no value to life. Psychologically, there is a profound reason not to be Zon, and it is supported by our entire civilization.
You need to fear honesty more than I do. The more aware you become of the gap between things as they are, and things as they should be, the greater the loss you will feel, and the more disheartened you will become. I am perfectly safe. The fact you are not able to adapt means you are insane: you have created a powerful, complex intellectual rationale to support that insanity, and a cult to isolate yourself from normal society.
Of course, I did not expect underdeveloped two-bit neocheaters to destroy you. They are like poker players who when losing, complain that it's a dishonest game and demand their money back. They make me sick! I, at least know what game I'm playing. The two-bit neocheater holds others responsible for problems created by his own irrationality. I have a much broader and more altruistic perspective: I hold the creator, the "great-souled man", responsible for collective irrationality. I need the soul's energy -- to get that soul in a context where I can use its energy to get people to sacrifice their souls to the anticivilization -- to give me the power to make it work.
Yes, I do attack and undermine the souls of others, but remember, I do it to myself first. Like Plato said: "The first and best victory is to conquer self." If you were to look at my face, you would see that there is nothing to attack -- no values to threaten. But oh...for the face of a creator...there is so much...there to attack.
Aside from vulnerability to context switching, the failure with your fully integrated philosophy is the least error, even an inflated valence of a value judgment in its presentation, gives me room to attack your entire philosophy. My philosophy is based on error, so I can't lose. It's perfect. There's literally nothing to attack. Yes, I will admit I feel somewhat disturbed (just barely) by your penetrating a foundation of our civilization with your revisionist gospel. Heresy is something we cannot ignore. For the longest time, we've had this tacit understanding: we would not penetrate your world, and you would not penetrate ours. You've broken the rules of the game, Mr. Wallace. Would you like it if we penetrated your world?
In any case, it is we who are the experts at reflecting reality to the masses. Don't tell me what we reflect is an illusion. When enough people see and believe, they act and the result is metaphysical. Don't you agree? Or was what we did to you an illusion? And here is my trump card, Mr. Wallace. Like you say about a truly good person being unable to recognize his own goodness because it (like the ether of existence) is such a continuous presence, he knows nothing else. But, he can easily recognize it when he's bad because it does not fit in with any part of his psyche. Me? Well, my soul is corrupted enough that I can no longer perceive the bad within me. I am immune from guilting, but creators can be guilted so easily. Pretty ironic, don't you think.... And yet the genesis of the guilt is real: each has committed the Original Sin by compromising his consciousness to adapt to this civilization. Am I really to blame? The sin was here before I came. I merely adapted to it is all. (Or should you look in the mirror?) You cannot hold me responsible for who I am.
Consciousness is what gives one choice -- control over reality. I've reduced my consciousness to the point where I no longer have a choice. Just as all those who follow me will have no choice either about being born into an anticivilization. No one is immune. Consider Ayn Rand, mankind's only notable exception, who had, incidentally, intellectual powers, and yes, even benevolence far exceeding your own. Yet, even she valued the anticivilization -- though in a negative way. She sensed this in the process of writing her masterpiece, "Atlas Shrugged", and attempted to negate its influence on her (blank out the blank out) by using "pure consciousness" -- an irrational concept.
The bitterness in her writing, when the awareness of the anticivilization was closer to the surface, was buried and replaced by a kind of deadness. The result was, as unprecedented an achievement "Atlas" was, it had a secondary, rather than primary influence. It was the mind, not the soul of the author that was communicated. You see, everyone must protect his place in the anticivilization, at whatever cost, because it is the only place he knows. Anything else, for him, is to risk the deepest fear, a total loss of context -- a kind of spiritual death.
You are fighting against people's survival instincts, Mr. Wallace. I am helping to prepare a place for them. Who do you think will win? Neo-Tech is fond of making predictions so allow me to make a prediction -- one that will come true. 2001 will arrive. Nothing will happen. You will die. And we will take over Neo-Tech.com (if there is anything worth taking over). If need be, we will pick up how to control people through their Neo-Tech identity, just as we learned how to control people through their Christian or social identity.
In this world, I am the problem, but I am also the solution -- so we will be around for many years to come. Our representatives may change, but one thing stays the same: "You cannot defy the will of the world." Rand, and all the others that preceded her failed and you will too.
It is much better to admit defeat early rather than put your energy into something that will eventually collapse or be taken over by us. It's hard to be Zon, isn't it? Upon contact with our civilization, you keep slipping back, don't you? Well, rather than isolate yourself on your own little Neo-Tech island, why not use your knowledge to gain and profit and take from our civilization? Why spend your last remaining years chasing windmills, when, if only you'd learn to open up to it, our world has so much to offer? You believe in non-sacrifice. Who has sacrificed more these past thirty years for as little gain?
You still think it's me who cannot give up his investment in the anticivilization. No, I don't need to because that is reality here on this earth. It's you who cannot give up his investment in the C of U. It's you who is wasting his one and only precious life -- for what cause?
Mystics need neocheaters and neocheaters need mystics. No one needs Zon. Rather than placing an ideal before reality, accept the context that we live in. Turn your knowledge around. Don't think of inducing mysticism as evil, rather recognize the neocheater's goodness in using mysticism to make living in an anticivilization bearable.
