Your Job, Psyche, Mind, Love-Life, and Body
The mini-day schedule, broken into smooth physical movements, opens a whole new dimension to rapid power and wealth: power-thinking. The traditional schedule, on the other hand, plagued with physical disjointedness blocks power-thinking. The traditional daily schedule quickly fills to its capacity and can only react day by day to the job at hand. The mini-day schedule rarely fills to its capacity. Racing through his streamlined tasks, one will be done with all his week's work by Tuesday afternoon. With nothing left to do, he beings to think creatively. He begins to uncover new money-making projects through power-thinking.
Indeed, with the mini-day schedule intact, the average person can pull in future wealth, goals, projects rapidly through power-thinking. Let us start with an example of the rich man using this effective, simple tool: He handled among other things a large, complex project. He initiated major marketing programs overseas in England and Ireland. The new programs were complex and could take many months to start. Instead, he did the following: He focused in his mind the end result. He could tangibly see in his head the completed project right up to the hundreds of thousands of marketing packages filling a containerized truck being lifted into the ship. In seeing that finished project, he swiftly began to see what he needed to do to achieve that full container. He began focusing on the suppliers he needed to contact, the shipping routes he needed to uncover, the postal systems he needed to work with, the schedules he needed to orchestrate.
He thought about and imaged in his mind as many steps as possible to achieve that container full of his marketing packages and wrote the steps down. He called that list of steps his power-thinking list. But his power-thinking list turned into so much more than just projecting ahead, for he fed the projections into the high-intensity action units -- the mini-days -- that quickly got done. ...Let us see how the results pulled him up the ranks as he moved through important projects that others just think about:
He determined the task or tasks needed to complete the first step listed on his power-thinking list, then injected the task(s) into the proper mini-day(s). He then did that for each step listed on his power-thinking list. He quickly took control.
In one day he did, among several other things, the following: During his phone-call mini-day he called the major printing consultant in Ireland, contacted the marketing manager of the Irish An Post, called a printer in England and discussed a large test mailing; during his letter-writing mini-day he drafted a letter to the Irish postal authorities; during the operations mini-day he organized some data to indicate what mailing lists he would consider using; during the accounting mini-day he did a brief cost analysis on mailing abroad; during his meeting mini-day he discussed the overseas possibilities with his in-house mailing list broker to set her in action, he also reviewed with two executive officers the tentative plan with nearly a full-scale layout. He did all that among other productive tasks in one day. He did more in one day toward completing that project than most would do in a month. By the next day, people on both sides of the Atlantic were moving into action, all moving the project toward completion.
His high-capacity mini-day schedule opened to the rich man the whole new dimension of power-thinking. He could suddenly power-think large, major projects and rapidly move them into action. He left his peers in his dust, for their low-capacity traditional schedules blocked them from power-thinking new money-making projects as they barely kept up with their routine jobs. They just reacted to business. The rich man controlled and built business. The president of the company for which the rich man worked was so impressed that he promptly gave the rich man a major promotion, pay increase, and bonus. Today, the rich man is president of the company. ...Yet anyone could have done it. With the mini-day/power-thinking team, you or your son or daughter (save for actual hands-on experience) could have done what the rich man did that day.
The results of power-thinking just pulls one up the hierarchy. Into the mini-day production-line one puts through today, with power-thinking, what others will not even think about until sometime in the future. And he can crank out several projects at one time as he compiles future projects into today's mini-days. Soon even his boss seems slow and ineffective. He advances beyond a specialized routine rut. He builds his success instead of maintaining a job.
Not long after the rich man discovered the mini-day/power-thinking team, he had 22 projects on his power-thinking list. Underneath those projects were 150 steps needed to accomplish those 22 projects. Within one week, every step was accomplished or moved into flowing action. Before the mini-day/power-thinking team, he had problems just keeping up with his voluminous routine work, no less doing even just one forward-movement project in one week. How did he go from perhaps accomplishing one project to 22 projects? That is quite a quantum jump and expansion.
Consider that the average person's mind can focus on only one project at a time, with its five or six thoughts. His mind certainly could not cope with 22 projects, 150 tasks, for he would be paralyzed. The rich man, on the other hand, easily copes with 22 projects at a time, with its 150 tasks. He easily does that through power-thinking: First, he determines the steps needed to complete a project by focusing in his mind the completed project. He focuses on one project at a time. He uncovers and lists the steps needed to complete the project. Then he puts that project out of his mind altogether to make room for the next project. At this point, he has formed a maximum-integration puzzle piece to a success puzzle.
He then concentrates on the next project. He imagines the completed project and writes down the steps to reach that image. Now he has formed another maximum-integration puzzle piece to the success puzzle. Then he clears his mind and goes on to the next project, and so on, each project forming another puzzle piece to the success puzzle. Those puzzle pieces snap together into the mini-day schedule.
He does his power-thinking on Saturday or Sunday and injects his entire power-thinking list into his next week's mini-day schedule. His mini-day schedule becomes an interlocked success puzzle that captures the highly integrated thinking (i.e., power-thinking) for several major projects. All week long, every action, every move comes directly from that highly integrated thinking. Moreover, every little task in the success puzzle integrates with several other tasks that move major projects toward rapid payoff. Indeed, every little task performed integrates with the whole success puzzle. Although just a mechanical mini-day schedule, every action delivers integrated synergy that comes from highly integrated thinking.
The human mind can focus intensely on just one project -- no more. But with the use of special tools, man can operate beyond his mental processing capacity. The mini-day/power-thinking team is a tool that lets you go beyond the capacity of the human mind -- your tool to building major success puzzles.
To move a difficult project through, no doubt, one must exert concentrated focus on the project. That fact has led many pipe-smoking professors of business to conjure up myths about doing only the important projects or responsibilities. That way, they say, the important things will get done. Those who follow such sound-good advice, especially entrepreneurs, get too far behind in the many other areas of business and eventually fail.
True, the mind can only focus and concentrate on one project at one time. But, with the integrated mini-day/power-thinking team, the ordinary person moves beyond the limits of the human mind. He captures focused concentration on not just one but several projects throughout each week.
Power-thinking captures vague ambitions, goals, projects into tangible steps. The steps further break down into specific tasks when injected into the mini-days. Ambitions, goals, projects break down, down, down to earth...down to tasks that get done. By plugging those tasks into the intense mini-days, any average person yanks in faraway dreams right now, right down to quick-action reality.
Of course, only the living jobs of the future can accommodate such a wealth-building dynamic. Then you can reach forward, grab hold of your most ambitious goals and projects and bring them back to you now. You can experience those accomplish-ments not only sometime within your lifetime but right away and move on to even bigger and better accomplishments. You will discover the exciting energy of moving through goals. Think about your ambitions, your goals. With a living job and its mini-day/power-thinking team, bring everything you want into the palm of your hand, right now.
So, there you have it -- the three main components that constitute life: the DNA, the ribosome protein-generating factory, and the RNA. Our new big-money jobs come to life with money-making purpose ("DNA"), a money-generating mini-day schedule (a "ribosome"), and power-thinking ("RNA").
Before long, by 2001, you will enjoy a living job. Once you take over the responsibilities of a living job -- that wealth-building nugget of purpose -- then you will build wealth with your mini-day/power-thinking team, always listening to your business, talking to you in numbers.
21st-century businesses and entrepreneurs will build their companies with these wealth-building living jobs. They will do this by transferring to employees complete wealth-building nuggets and not routine tasks. Their employees will get the complete chunk of responsibilities attached to their money-making purpose versus a stagnant bunch of routine responsibilities delegated without regard to their money-making purpose, their "DNA", the essence of life. The process that will effectively transfer those wealth-building living jobs is called: Replicating.
Imagine being able to reproduce the original entrepreneur. Say he could clone himself to fill every job in his company. Well, his company would boom. Replicating himself comes close to filling his company with himself. The companies that grow through replicating will be filled with people with the same life-code as the original entrepreneurs. The companies that grow through delegating, on the other hand, will be filled with people with no life-code in non-living jobs.
The original entrepreneur who builds his start-up company from the ground up, intimately knows the "DNA" of his business -- how to make money! That "DNA" is preserved through replicating himself. The 21st-century entrepreneur will not turn over selected responsibilities, in other words, delegate. Instead, he will take the time to transfer an entire living job with its "DNA", its money-making purpose and all its attached responsibilities that make up the "living cell". He will demonstrate to his successor, first hand, how to do each responsibility and, most importantly, all the intricacies of how to go about making money -- the essence of his job.
If you decide to go into business for yourself, here is what you do to start and build your own 21st-century business: Pick something you know well; perhaps start your new business in a similar line of work as your current job. Pick something you are comfortable with, something you know you can do. Always begin your new company as a lone, one-man business. Although things may get hectic, do not hire others to delegate responsibilities to. I even suggest not hiring a secretary, for if you do, you have someone to delegate to. You must sacredly uphold and hold together the living cell of responsibilities. You must keep its responsibilities together around their money-making purpose. Once you start delegating, you obliterate that living cell. Instead, do it all yourself. To stay in good control, stay with the mini-day/power-thinking team.[ 16 ]
When you begin to grow, bring in a successor and replicate your entire wealth-building nugget. Do all the work in his presence. Let him take from you, not you give to him, the nitty-gritty details, one by one. This way, he or she will pick up the fine art of making money. Your genetic code will pass to your successor. Once you successfully transfer the DNA and its entire cell of responsibilities to your successor, then you can put your mind to work again and concentrate your entrepreneurial drive on building a new wealth-building nugget. Indeed, your business will never stagnate as you and your successors all concentrate on making money.
Some businesses work better if you keep the original wealth-building nugget and grow through replicating new wealth-building nuggets (i.e., new marketing projects) that grow from within your mini-company. In any case, if your physical growth comes by replicating "DNA" (i.e., the money-making purposes) and their attached responsibilities, then you will be on the leading edge of a 21st-century living business. You will be among the first to experience the next great curve of prosperity coming to business and its workers as everything shifts from brain-dead jobs of labor to brain-stimulated jobs of the mind.
Each mini-company employee fills out his tracking reports. To fill out the reports, the responsibilities must all be done and done right or they jump out as "ill" on the catch-everything "immune system". The mini-company employee will himself know if something is wrong and will correct it immediately before any further time passes and before it goes beyond him.
With a skillfully developed "immune system", proper tracking reports, everything throughout the living business stays healthy, even if it rapidly grows to a multi-million-dollar business.
If you are trying these techniques to build your own living company, upon replicating your first mini-company you must design tracking reports to the last detail. Remember, that living job or mini-company has a living "cell of responsibilities". You must develop the tracking reports to reflect every one of those responsibilities. For example, see Diagram Nine over the next 11 pages. It illustrates Integrated Management's direct-mail mini-company's "cell of responsibilities" (from page 47) followed by the tracking reports. In only a few minutes, the president of Integrated Management can glance over those reports and know that everything is healthy.
Nothing but forward-movement issues get discussed in this monthly Essence Meeting. The president will clearly outline for each mini-company specifically what forward movement must be accomplished next month. Then, everyone in the company drives forward for the full month following the Essence Meeting. Everyone drives hard to meet the deadlines set by the president. No one ever drifts into aimlessness. No one ever drifts into filling his or her day with tasks that do nothing to drive the business forward. For, the president has determined for each mini-company the projects that specifically drive the business forward. The president lays out what he or she expects done, and the president set deadlines.
Thus, the 21st-century president sends the 21st-century business into double-time, forward-march action. The next two pages show the outline of actions prepared for the direct-mail mini-company before the January Essence Meeting at Integrated Management.
The mini-company employees must gradually overcome their natural resistance to becoming self-leaders. The president's monthly Essence Meeting helps them evolve into self-leaders. As they get used to driving forward projects laid out by the president, they will begin to, on their own, develop their own projects. Gradually, they will provide the president with their list of forward movement for the following month. They then become self-perpetuating essence movers.
If you are using these techniques to build your own living company, try the following technique to push along your company's division of essence: have each mini-company employee submit a weekly forward-movement Essence Report. The weekly report must be turned in every Monday, without exception. The report is brief. It tells you what each mini-company employee did on forward movement that week and what he or she will do on forward movement next week. No detail work. No excuses. Simply what was done on forward movement, nothing else.
Every Monday, without exception, review the weekly forward-movement reports. The weekly reports, in a sense, "corner" people into doing forward movement.
The weekly Essence Report breaks into two brief parts: 1) the forward movement accomplished that week, and 2) the forward movement to be accomplished next week. When you receive next week's forward-movement Essence Report, you can see if the person was successful with his previous week's projection.
The weekly Essence Report sets a forward-movement goal for the next week. The goal set in the weekly report forces focused concentration on forward movement each new week. Most people handle only routine responsibilities without ever a thought beyond their routine -- without ever a thought of investing in their own growth and futures. With the weekly forward-movement Essence Report, however, each new week they think about how to advance themselves. They increasingly become creative and excited. You help them grow into the creative people they always dreamed of...the people they were meant to be.
The most effective format for the weekly forward-movement Essence Report is to integrate that report with the monthly forward-movement Essence Meeting. For example, in the monthly forward-movement Essence Meeting, Integrated Management's president in conjunction with each mini-company establishes the forward-movement actions to be accomplished the following month. Each mini-company employee then lists those actions 1...2...3...4... on a sheet of paper with space to the right of each action to write that week's forward-movement progress and the next week's projected progress. See the sample on the next page, and compare its actions to the Essence Meeting on the previous two pages. The mini-company employee then photocopies four copies of that list of forward-movement actions for one full month of weekly Essence Reports. Each weekend the mini-company employee writes either his progress (or exactly when he plans to make progress) in the first column next to each essence action. And he writes what he plans to do the coming week in the second column next to each essence action.
So, there you have it -- the three main components that constitute a living organism: the physical growth, the physical immune system, and the mental growth. The 21st-century living company physically grows through replicating, has an immune system through tracking reports, and grows mentally through monthly Essence Meetings with weekly Essence Reports. And that last component -- mental growth -- brings an unbeatable advantage to the 21st-century living company. For, through the division of essence, your company unlocks the greatest power in business -- the creativity now locked inside every employee's mind.
If you are trying these techniques to acquire your own living job or living company before the coming job revolution, keep this in mind: Whether you acquire a 21st-century living job at your current place of work or start your own 21st-century living company, what you need more than anything else is more and more creativity. You must discover the window to a whole new creative world. That window to a creative world is not easy to find at first because it is "written in code". The code first has to be broken. In time, you will begin breaking that code written in numbers. What irony, numbers and "all that logical stuff" is the window to creativity! Whereas you once perhaps disliked numbers, you will find yourself falling in love with numbers. You see, the numbers begin telling you a story every day -- a story about your new wealth-building job or your new company. You will begin looking for that story, every day excitedly wanting the latest story. For, that story tells you ways to advance your business. Whether you have a mini-company or a full-blown company, establish a numbers mini-day. It may take you awhile to "crack the code" and make use of that mini-day. But once you do, the numbers throw open the window to a whole new creative world.

[ 16 ] Every mini-company consists of both essence responsibilities and follow-through responsibilities. See on page 47: the first five responsibilities in each mini-company are essence responsibilities, the second five are follow-through, all indicated by "control...". With growth, follow-through responsibilities can be done by someone else who is well replicated and well tracked by you via the "immune-system" tracking reports, described next. Moreover, the follow-through job must be set up as an "entrepreneurial unit" with performance incentives to keep out stagnation. [ Back to Text ]
